Appreciated his teaching style. Very approachable and took time to help. Able to keep the attention of class while making it clear what areas to focus on to maximize LSAT preparation time.
Richard made the material, which isn’t the most engaging to begin with, tolerable. I have benefited greatly from this class.
I think it was a very well organized class. Just one week in i knew that i had made the right investment in choosing Kaplan. We not only had great insightful class sessions but Richards’ willingness to share tips on material best reinforced, one-on-one study suggestions and law school application insight really made the class very well rounded. thanks again for the help!
I never thought I would learn so much in the course. Richard not only taught us the methods to solve questions quickly, he also made us solve them. And before he solved the question for himself, he asked us for our inputs/reasoning and corrected us wen we were wrong. This class has been truly amazing.Richard is awesome.
He was excellent! Not only was he extremely knowledgable, he was engaging, interesting, and approachable.
Richard is THE TEACHER to take an LSAT Prep Class with. I have recommended to people interested in enrolling in a class to make sure they get in his class. He’s amazing.
Richard was a really great teacher. He made it very easy for me to ask questions even if we were not in class and he had timely responses. I had no problem speaking out in his class and his knowledge about the test was almost unreal. I have already shown so much improvement and hope that it will keep going up due to his help.
Richard is the best instructor ever! I learned a lot, had fun, and always looked forward to be in his class. Give him a raise! :)
Richard was very easy to get along with and through his non stop encouragement I was able to find out exactly what my strengths and weaknesses are and work through them. I would recommend Richard as a tutor/instructor for anyone wishing to excel in LSAT prep.
He made logic games the easiest section for me... when I had no idea how to do them before. Plus, he managed to make a class like this enjoyable. He was great.
For the benefit of every future student, do it again. Richard was the best instructor for this test one could possibly have hoped for.
Great Instructor and understands how to best reach students “at their level”...good guy.
Great teacher, his humor made the class so much better, he was very knowledgable about the test and would give you straight answers, not dodge questions
I took a Kaplan course in the 80’s and it was torture to get through. I expected that again. Never once did I get bored. Richard is very engaging, a real character I say in a super complimentary way, and his way of putting so much of the material in lay terms and real world vocabulary was very helpful. I would recommend anyone considering taking the LSAT prep course to spend the extra and make sure they get scheduled in Richards class. He is a real winner for you.
Richard was an excellent instructor. He lectures were lucid and engaging. He also had a great sense of humor.
Richard, though I don’t know yet what the results of my June LSAT test are, I will always have the utmost respect for you as an instructor of the LSAT. In class, whenever you work out a problem for us, you make it seem so easy, though it can be difficult for us sometimes whenever we try it on our own.
Richard Hillary is an asset to your LSAT preparation course. Wish I had more time to learn from him. He cleared up much of my understanding in preparation for my exam.
Richard was an absolutely fabulous teacher. I enjoyed his class very much. Although taking the LSAT is going to be an incredibly stressful experience, Richard was great at making me feel I could conquer every part of the exam. His teaching style is well-suited for the material on the exam, and I actually enjoyed going to class. I have no negative feedback at all. It has been an all-around positive experience!
He is a great teacher. He clearly has a vast amount of knowledge about law school and LSAT. I am sure I would have gotten much less out of this class if I had another teacher.
You are one of the best teachers I have had. You did a great job of breaking down the concepts and explaining them simply. I feel a lot more comfortable with the test and learned how to approach it without feeling overwhelmed. I also never thought I would laugh in an LSAT class; you did a wonderful job of keeping things interesting and engaging.
I thought you was awesome! You kept the class engaged through humorous stories while backing it relevant material. I completely understand why you’re rated as one of top instructors Kaplan has to offer. The organization lacks a little but if that is your teaching style’s short-coming I’ll have to live with that. I really appreciate how you made time for your students outside of class. Thanks for the interesting and intellectually stimulating class. It was money well spent, I hope!
Great teacher, led an interesting classroom. Very entertaining and made the material more interesting. He is responsible for the majority of my success.
He is a great teacher and cared about my score as well as the score of others in my class. He always kept us engaged and interested.
I thought Richard was very funny and knew A LOT about the LSAT. His humor made the classes much more enjoyable and less stressful.
Richard was a great teacher, he kept us entertained with his stories and he had a lot of great advice to give us. I learned a lot from him about the LSAT, the process of getting into school and what it might be like when we get there. He kept us encouraged and looking on the bright side. I really enjoyed his class.
Richard was an outstanding instructor because he was very informative on all subject matter that was important to know for the exam. Furthermore, he had top notch skills dealing with people and his overall teaching methodology. It does not surprise me one bit that he is one of Kaplan’s top instructors. I would recommend him anytime and to anyone interested in going to law school.
This instructor went above and beyond to make sure we had the most successful and worthwhile experience in Kaplan. I have recommended Kaplan profusely because Richard is such a wonderful instructor. He made me feel confident, intelligent, and equipped to handle the LSAT. Not to mention, in addition to be an amazing teacher, he is a marvelous individual.
This is my second time taking a class with Kaplan and I am so glad I had Richard as my instructor. Unlike my previous instructor, he really cared about how the students did. He did everything he could in order to improve our scores and help our goals in the legal field. Richard is definitely the best!
I really appreciate what Richard did for our class and liked him as a teacher. I really liked how he taught logic games—the way he sets up his games is very much the way I set mine up so it was nice having compatible styles. He also would take any questions we had and continue to explain when someone didn’t understand, which I thought was very thoughtful. He made me feel like I could express my opinions and ask questions which is important for a teacher to do.
He is a great teacher that makes the class exciting and easy for you to put the LSAT wording in easier terms. He is invested in you from the LSAT to the admissions process.
Incredibly great instructor. He has been extremely knowledgeable about every intricacy of the LSAT, and he always displayed a willingness to make sure we understood everything and had every possible question answered. I had reservations about signing up for any LSAT course, but Richard Hillary’s teaching kept me here.
Richard is an exceptional instructor. This is the second time I’ve taken the extreme class with Richard. The initial time I was able to raise my score 9 points from the initial diagnostic to the actual LSAT administered in June and I am continuing to see improvement until now. I only have positive thoughts about Richard and the Kaplan program run in Austin.
I took the LSAT last December and the entire experience was terrifying. Richard gave me the confidence and tools I needed to do well on the test. He is the man. I recommend him to everyone I know.
He is an animated and engaging teacher, going beyond the call in putting together workshops and tirelessly answering our questions. He truly cares about us....(or at least it seems so and I mean that in the nicest of all possible ways). As a retired teacher, I can say without qualification he has “the gift”. The bad news is, it is a wonderful productive addiction that can make putting off the bar exam seem all too tempting. You are a natural born teacher Richard...keep that in mind as you choose your options for this next year.
Excellent teacher. Fantastic in class and extremely helpful in all LSAT matters. He does a wonderful job of making extremely dry material tolerable.
I work at an educational facility. I deal with quality educators constantly. Richard is by far one of the most exceptional teachers I’ve come into contact with. His method of teaching the Kaplan material is very effective, engaging and easily understood. He gets to know his students, their strengths, their weaknesses and even at a personal level which I believe helps him gauge what the best strategy is for each student. A true Kaplan and Austin treasure. Thanks Richard!
I attended some of the best schools in the nation, and Mr. Hillary certainly ranks up their with the best instructors I’ve had the luck to experience. He’s extremely knowledgable, he’s excellent at the head of the class, and he goes far beyond requirements when help his students do better on the material.
Extremely engaging, cared very much about students’ progress, willing to work outside of paid time to help students, exceedingly knowledgeable about test material and otherwise. Could not have asked for a better coach.
A++! Excellent teacher. Great insight to the materials balanced with a perfect amount of humor. Always available for student needs and very helpful. Couldn’t imagine a better instructor!
Richard was great! Though initially intimidating, he made the lessons fun and informative. He knows the test and has a great way of explaining questions I have trouble with. He is also willing to work with my schedule for private lessons.
He was sooo down to earth and engaging in his class. He bridged the test to real world knowledge which helped me understand the subjectmatter so much better. I enjoyed his class very much! Thank you, Richard!
You are the best! You went way beyond the call of duty by having extra free classes, passing out additional helpful materials, accomodating all of the students, making class fun, giving attention to individual’s needs, and putting up with all of my questions. You should tell Kaplan to give you a HUGE raise, because you are an invaluable asset to them. Prior to you class, other past students of yours told me about your greatness, and they were right. This was my third Kaplan class, and I can not thank you enough for going the extra mile to be an extraordinary awesome teacher and guide through this maze of LSAT!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!
